RADIOPOLY

SYNOPSIS

115 words:

DJs have a gift of presenting the best of a community back to itself. This builds a critical mass behind local talent. When DJs are told to shut up and play the playlist, it ends an age-old symbiotic relationship between commercial radio and the community. Public radio can not fill this void because high song rotation and huge advertising budgets are not possible on public radio. Commercial radio neglects unsigned bands, small charities and even the emergence of new ideas on a local level. CORPORATE FM reveals the high-finance shell game that silenced the local voice in commercial radio across America. The film also reveals how commercial radio may become local again.

15 words:

Corporate restricts DJs to playing only off a playlist. DJs, musicians and the community speak out.
